Chris Hess

Lecturer and Postdoctoral Associate

Chris Hess focuses on residential segregation, housing markets and the changing spatial distribution of place-based inequalities. A postdoctoral associate at the Brooks School, Professor Hess is currently harnessing web data scraped from online rental housing platforms like Craigslist to understand the role of these information exchanges within the modern housing search process and extract policy-relevant information about rental housing conditions across the United States.

Professor Hess has published research in Demography, Urban Affairs Review, and Social Forces.

He received his Ph.D. from the University of Washington.
