Johannes Haushofer’s research interests lie in development economics and behavioral economics. He is a member of the faculty at the Brooks School and the Department of Economics.

Professor Haushofer is the founder of Busara, a non-profit that advances and applies behavioral science to alleviate poverty, and Malengo, a nonprofit organization that facilitates international education migration. He is an affiliate at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), a research fellow at the Center for Economics Policy Research (CEPR), and an affiliate at the Center for Economics Policy Research (BREAD).

Professor Haushofer received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Zurich, a Ph.D. in Neurobiology from Harvard University, and a B.A. in Psychology, Physiology, and Philosophy from the University of Oxford.
