On September 15, 2025, the Tech Policy Institute (TPI) hosted Dr. Jean-François Bélanger of the Royal Danish Defense College for a discussion on NATO and Europe’s defensive capabilities. We learned how Europe needs predictable, long-term industrial and procurement plans. He also believes that the doctrine, platform, and logistics must align with the new platforms.

Dr. Bélanger’s work both in A Blueprint for a European Defense Force and in Virtual Backgrounds (Forthcoming, Bloomsbury) argues for a pragmatic, phased approach.

We were so fortunate for the conversation from one of our very own Non-Resident Fellows. At the Royal Danish Defense College, he is an Assistant Professor and he teaches & researches European security, military strategy, and defense cooperation.
