Brooks School of Public Policy has been named the 2026 recipient of the Bachrach Family Scholarship for Excellence in Healthcare Administration, a national award presented by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA).

AUPHA is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to improving healthcare delivery through excellence in healthcare management and policy education.

The scholarship recognizes outstanding second-year students enrolled full-time in accredited residential healthcare administration programs who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential, and a commitment to improving healthcare delivery.

Established by the Bachrach family, the endowed scholarship was created to support future leaders in healthcare management and to build a lasting legacy in healthcare administration education. The award reflects the values and professional contributions of David and Linda Bachrach, whose careers helped shape healthcare administration and policy education.

According to AUPHA, this year’s selection process was highly competitive.

“This year, we had a large pool of applicants for the Bachrach Scholarship and many of them were excellent candidates,” said France Weaver, chair of the 2026 Bachrach Scholarship Selection Committee and a faculty member at James Madison University.

“Yuna Kwak stood out because of the combination of her strong analytical skills and leadership potential,” Weaver said. “The committee members felt that Yuna incarnates what the Bachrach Scholarship honors: a combination of academic excellence with a bright future as a driven healthcare leader, who is eager to advance equitable patient-centered care.”

Kwak said the scholarship will support her continued professional development as she prepares for a career focused on healthcare leadership, operational improvement, and patient-centered innovation.

“I am deeply honored to be this year’s recipient of the Bachrach Family Scholarship,” Kwak said. “With this generous support, I will continue advancing my commitment to delivering patient-centered, high-quality care and improving outcomes for diverse communities through thoughtful leadership and innovation.”
