China’s new Type 076 amphibious assault ship combines an electromagnetic catapult with a deck built for drones, positioning UAVs at the center of future naval operations. It is designed to launch surveillance and strike drones at scale from well inside the first island chain.

In November, @CornellTPI Junior Fellow Cynthia Tan attended a meeting of the Berkeley Consortium of Cyber Clinics, a national network that has grown rapidly to 58 clinics and whose mission is to provide pro bono cybersecurity expertise to organizations with fewer resources.
The panel was moderated by Jonathan Edward, CEO of New Harbor and a foundational figure in building several of the clinic programs. One of the speakers, Blake Gilmore, who now works at New Harbor, shared how the clinic model shaped his professional trajectory.
Overall, the meeting showed the value of the cyber clinic model as both a public resource and an educational pipeline. The consortium’s continued expansion reflects a growing recognition of cybersecurity and developing the next generation of professionals.
