Dr. Shravan Subramanyam ’05

Dr. Shravan Subramanyam is the Managing Director for Roche Diagnostics India & Neighboring Markets. Shravan has over 15 years of corporate & healthcare experience. A physician, with a passion for diagnostics, he is particularly keen on promoting ‘personalized healthcare’ and the use of technology in medicine.

His career spans leadership roles in global pharma & diagnostics organisations, including Novartis (USA, Hong Kong), Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics (USA, India) and Ehrlich Laboratory (India). He has dabbled in tech startups, and is a co-founder/ advisor to Business Mobility (“BuMo), a 3D simulations company specializing in medical device training.

At Roche, Shravan leads a team of 400+, with complete P&L responsibility for a high-growth in-vitro diagnostics market covering India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal. He is also a member of Roche Diagnostics’ Asia-Pacific Leadership Team and a board member of the India Roche Pharma business.

In addition to a degree in medicine from Madras Medical College, Dr. Subramanyam also holds a Masters’ degree in Health Administration at Cornell University, where he previously served on the alumni board. He was also the recipient of the Sloan Leadership Award and remembers his time fondly there, especially while learning life skills like health economics, cross country skiing and wine tasting.

Shravan is also an active voice at various industry bodies such as CII & NATHEALTH, and recently took over as the president of the Swiss Indo Chamber of Commerce (India). Recently, he was named in Economic Times’ 40 Under Forty List of “India’s Hottest Business Leaders 2018”

He lives in Mumbai with his wife Roopa and children Anoushka and Aadit and enjoys golf and SCUBA diving in his free time.
