Why study in Washington?

The entire city becomes your campus; the museums, the history, the nightlife, and the political atmosphere provide an experience unlike anything Cornell’s Ithaca campus has to offer.

Our Cornell in Washington programming offers a transformative, applied learning experience to Cornell students during the fall and spring semesters, and during the summer term.

During your CIW experience, you’ll engage with the most pressing issues of the day as you live in the heart of our nation’s capital, enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime internship, take world-class courses taught by leading experts, and get guided tours to the best free museum system in the world. We are not able to directly place students into internships – the organizations have their own selection process – but our staff can help students be competitive for the most selective internships by helping students with resume development, crafting cover letters, and honing their interview skills.

When you complete the program, you’ll join the ranks of CIW graduates who emerge as scholars, professionals, active citizens, and leaders.
